With muscled legs, both strong and fleet;

With gaudy feathers, freaky feet;

      With lengthy toes and massive claws:

      The terror birds had monstrous jaws.

Top of the food chain in their day,

They spared no mercy on their prey.

      With pickaxe beak they’d rip and tear

       And neither you nor I they’d spare.

This dinosaur’s no longer here –

So neither you nor I should fear,

    And like all others, so it seems,

    We’ll meet them only in our dreams.
